5 Places to Start Adding Gold Accents to Your Home
Gold is one of my favorite ways to add a little accent to a space—something about the gold fixtures, hardware, and gilded frames just makes me (and my clients) smile. Of course, gold isn’t for everyone and every space, but there are a few subtle (and not-so-subtle) places to start adding gold accents to your home.
Where to Add Gold Accents to Your Home
Imagine you’re in your home; what do you see? What’s attracting your attention? Is there anything specific? What color is it? That little bit of attention is the purpose of an accent piece.
An accent piece brings both contrast and balance to your home. It creates a focal point for your room that helps the space embody an emotion—for gold, it brings warmth, optimism, and positivity.
Mapping out the colors of your home and where they belong is actually one of the main phases of an interior design project. So, if you’re ready to bring gold into your home, here are a few places to start:
Bedroom
The bedroom is a great place to start adding gold accents to your home. If there’s any room that deserves a little bit more warmth, it’s your bedroom. I love adding gold to simple light fixtures and incorporating it into the decor on your nightstands.
Start with something small, like a gold vase or small tabletop sculpture (I’m partial to pieces from local Arizona artisans).
Bathroom
Bathrooms and powder rooms are some of my favorite spaces to decorate, especially when paired with beautiful zellige tile. Bathrooms offer so much room for creativity and little touches that can make a huge difference.
For example, you can add gold accents to your shower door, over-the-mirror light fixtures (or your mirror itself), shelving, or functional decor—like your soap dispenser and towel rack.
Kitchen
Your kitchen is another place where you can really focus on the small details—like your cabinet hardware. A beautiful gold cabinet handle is such a subtle add that you get to appreciate every day.
Other places to add a gold accent are your barstools or seating, sink fixture, and countertop decor.
Dining Room
Wall art, light fixtures, and centerpieces are the gold accents your dining room deserves. As a family space, the warmth and positivity it creates is unmatchable.
Of course, there is more to add, but it depends on the size of your dining room and your furniture.
Den
Another family space that can always benefit from more warmth, positivity, and optimism—your den can have subtle gold accents or bold; it’s up to you!
For example, you can keep it simple with a few tabletop decor pieces and coasters with a gold accent. You can also incorporate it into your furniture, fireplace, mirrors, or frames.
While I love adding a touch of gold to homes (including my own), ultimately, I love bringing to life a space that feels good to you—gold or no gold. If you want to discover how we can make a space into your own, book a free consultation.
