What to Know Before Hiring an Interior Designer

What to Know Before Hiring an Interior Designer | Ravenhouse Designs

Before you dive into working with an interior designer (like me), you need to have a general idea of what you want for and from your project. You don’t need to know every detail—that’s for us to figure out together—but having a vision will make the process much smoother.

Wondering what you need to know BEFORE hiring an interior designer? This is for you!

3 Things You Need to Know Before Hiring an Interior Designer

Remember, you don’t need to know everything—we’ll get there—but for an interior designer to give you what you need, you have to have a general understanding of what you want.

These are the four things you should know before working with an  interior designer:

#1. Project

First, identify the rooms, spaces, or even homes you want to transform. Whether it’s a single room or your entire home, having a clear idea of the area you want to work on will help guide the design process!

#2. Timeline

When do you need (or, more realistically, want) the project completed? Consider your timeline and whether it aligns with the scope of the work you want to do. Remember, design takes time, and it’s important to ensure your timeline fits within the phases of your project.

#3. Budget

Your budget is a crucial factor in how your project will come to life. It affects everything from materials to design choices. Discussing your budget early on with your designer will help set the expectations and ensure it stays within your financial comfort zone as much as possible.

#4. Distance

Luckily, you can work with interior designers from wherever you are! Most interior designers can connect with you online for consultations. Still, if they’re a few states away and you want them to get a first-hand look at your project, you’ll need to work it into your timeline and expectations for how you complete your work together!

How to Work With an Interior Designer

Working with an interior designer should be a collaborative process where your ideas and our expertise come together to create something beautiful and amazing.

Be open about your needs, timeline, and budget from the start, and trust us to bring your vision to life—I promise we won’t disappoint.
