Soft, Sweet, and Elevated: A Peek Inside Norah’s Big Girl Room

Designing a space for a child is one of the most joyful parts of my work—and Norah’s big girl room is no exception. This room was designed to feel elevated yet playful, grounded in timeless materials with just the right touch of whimsy. Today, I’m sharing all the little details that brought this room to life, starting with one of my favorite elements: the curtains and rod from Two Pages.

The Window Moment: Effortless Softness with Two Pages

The windows were one of the most important features in the room. I wanted the light to feel diffused and dreamy, adding softness without blocking natural sunshine. The white linen blend curtains from Two Pages were the perfect choice. They drape beautifully and offer that slightly sheer look that feels ethereal—exactly what this room called for.

We paired them with the brushed gold rod (also from Two Pages) to bring in a subtle, elevated contrast to the warm blush walls. The hardware is clean and minimal, yet stylish enough to stand on its own. The overall effect is tailored but never fussy—a look I aim for in all kids' spaces.

A Room That Grows With Her

While the palette leans into soft pinks and warm neutrals, everything was selected with longevity in mind. The neutral bouclé daybed is both cozy and functional, providing a spot for lounging now and sleepovers later. It’s styled with oversized pillows in soft sage, white, and a pleated mauve velvet round cushion that ties into the bedding.

Above the bed, we created a charming gallery wall with playful artwork that feels youthful but not overly themed. It’s easy to swap individual pieces over time, allowing the space to evolve as Norah does.

Layering Texture and Tone

The oak nightstand adds warmth and texture, grounding the softer tones in the room. It’s styled with a modern pleated lamp and a few small treasures—including a tiny Maileg mouse—that give the space personality and charm. Beneath it, a few of Norah’s favorite books are tucked away for bedtime reading.

We kept the floors light with a checkerboard area rug in soft ivory and beige tones, adding gentle pattern without overwhelming the eye. Details like the woven hamper, brass wall hooks, and soft textiles create a collected, cozy feel that invites you to slow down and stay awhile.

Final Touches That Make It Hers

One of my favorite parts? The little dress on display by the window with her favorite bunny above—just a simple, sentimental styling moment that feels like Norah. It’s these personal touches that truly make a space feel like home.

This room was such a dream to pull together—a balance of sweetness, serenity, and just enough sophistication to grow with Norah through the years.
